Can shoring props be customized?

Yes. Standard shoring props cover most routine construction needs, but projects with non-standard dimensions, unusual load paths, or demanding service environments often need props built to specification. Here is what can be customized, when it pays off, and how the process works.

Shoring props sit within a wider family of support systems that includes Cuplock Shoring, Beam and Plate Shoring, Ring-lock Shoring, and conventional Shoring Props. They are adjustable support columns that carry vertical loads during concrete pouring, renovation, and maintenance work. Where loads are primarily vertical and headroom varies across the slab, they are often the most practical choice.

When Customization Makes Sense

Most props supplied are standard adjustable steel columns in common closed and open heights. Customization earns its cost in three situations:

  • Non-standard geometry. Renovation work in existing buildings, soffit formwork with restricted headroom, and irregular spans rarely match catalog sizes. Props cut to the actual structure avoid the on-site improvisation that is a common source of support failures.
  • Specific safety requirements. High-risk environments may require additional reinforcement, corrosion-resistant materials, or locking mechanisms that standard products do not carry.
  • Cost control. Over-specifying props "to be safe" across a whole project wastes steel and labor. Props matched to real loads and heights use less material and install faster.

What Can Be Customized

Dimensions. Lengths and diameters are manufactured to suit specific floor-to-floor heights and formwork setups. Heavier superimposed loads generally call for larger-diameter tubes.

Material. Standard props are typically steel or aluminum. For coastal or chemically aggressive environments, we supply stainless steel or apply anti-corrosion coatings.

Load-bearing capacity. Props can be engineered to a target safe working load, accounting for the structure's weight, the construction method, and dynamic effects such as pouring operations.

Special features. Accessories such as the Shoring Putlog Coupler can be integrated for more secure connections, together with adjustable bases and heads that improve alignment and load distribution.

How the Process Works

  1. Requirement assessment. We review your project documents with you: dimensions, loads, material preferences, and any special features.
  2. Engineering design. Our engineering team produces calculations for load-bearing capacity, material selection, and manufacturing drawings, which you approve before production begins.
  3. Manufacturing. Production follows the approved drawings under our ISO-certified quality management system.
  4. Testing and quality control. Before shipment, every batch passes load testing, material testing, and dimensional inspection against the agreed specification.

Why It Pays to Work with an Experienced Supplier

Custom props are only as reliable as the engineering behind them. Our design team can spot load cases that a drawing alone does not reveal, quotes within one working day of receiving your load data, and holds delivery schedules - we know what a stalled slab costs a project.

Send Your Inquiry Now

If your project requires props outside standard ranges, send us your drawings and load data through the inquiry form. Whether you need a small batch or a full supply for a major structure, our engineers respond within 24 hours with a workable solution.
